I'm Stuck With You

Not much to say tonight. This poem might not be about what you think, though.

I'm Stuck With You

I thought that was you
touching me so deep. No one
else could, not like that.
You warn me I'm stuck
with you. Oh boy. This is sweet.
If you expect me
to try to scrape you
off me by diving into
the dirt, think again.

It might not be, what i think it is you say, but is it?

  2. Given your opening comment, I'm looking for other meanings, but ultimately, poetry is about what the reader believes more than about what the author intended.

Love the line: Oh boy. This is sweet.

I can just hear the sarcasm and love the way you tell (it) in the end.

  3. for the last post...

amazing that war spanned a little over a decade. over 50, 000 troops killed. everybody did what they needed to do.

now in the first decade of the 21st Century the Chinese Communists have grafted capitalism to communism demonstrating capitalism as an economic form does not itself guarantee freedom, democracy or the American way....

also, as the Supreme Court's ruling on Corporate political contributions ends any charade that America is still a Democracy by-and-for-The People, is in fact a Corporate Plutocracy.

with Communist China as our Global Banker, i am paused to reflect on the wars since WW II and wonder if Pogo and i have not  indeed found the enemy.

i thought this poem "I'm Stuck with You" was about a tramp stamp you wanted to get rid of.

  4. also.... excuse my bad grammar. i've been engaged in political posts on twitter with a 140 or so word limit. that does interesting things to language.

also.... i cannot see the avatar icons. you know how self-centered and narcissistic i am.... please restore the icons so i can see my reflections in your mirror.

  5. that would be a 140 or so character limit, not word limit. a true challenge for an already severely limited character.

i've been someplace else and it's not like here.

We're gonna wake this city tonight
Oh, watch it burn into the twilight
I said hey, hey, hey this is our birthright
To be bought and sold, shipped off ready to die. We're ready to fight.

We're going bom bom bom. Bom bom away bom.
    Bom bom, bom bom.
We go bom bom, bom bom away bom. Bom bom, bom bom.

I can't drink or drive a tank at nineteen
So I set off to join the U.S. Army
The first time I left my country
I felt the desert sand marchin' under my feet. Come march with me.

We're going bom bom bom. Bom bom away bom.
    Bom bom, bom bom.
We go bom bom, bom bom away bom. Bom bom, bom bom.

We're gonna take this city tonight
We're gonna shake this city 'til broad daylight
We're gonna take this city tonight
We're gonna shake this city 'til broad daylight
    Shake it. Oh shake it.

I said: No NYC, Los Angeles
No Saint Louis, no New Orleans
No you and me, no you and me, no sympathy
Cause we're gonna bring them, bring them to their knees

We go bom bom bom, bom bom away bom. Bom bom, bom bom.
We go bom bom, bom bom away bom. Bom bom, bom bom.

We're gonna take this city tonight
We're gonna shake this city 'til broad daylight
We're gonna take this city tonight
We're gonna shake this city 'til broad daylight
Shake it. No brights lights, no more big city.
Shake it. No brights lights, no more big city.
Shake it. No brights lights, no more big city.
Shake it. No brights lights, no more big city

  6. Oh boy! This is sweet. I got you both working hard. Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm called Tom, Tom Sawyer. I have this picket fence I need whitewashed. I thought you might like to help.

Karen, it could be I just added that comment about shifting the meaning just to mess with you...

Of course that poem is exactly about what it is about. :)

Ghost, I like that comment about grafting capitalism on communism, and how following the money is actually ideologically abstract. I wouldn't call it neutral because following the money is itself a political orientation.

Corporations are "persons". I was taught that. When I went into business for myself through the nineties, I insisted on staying a "sole proprietor" because I felt that keeping myself intact as a person was worth the losses of tax advantages. I was unwilling to allow the corporate body to take over my life, effectively making money the idolatry of my spirit.

That also allowed me to blow off the business license and municipal tax issues because my business flow was so invisible, showing up only as the mode of paying income tax. I had no interest in "growing my business" by working more than forty hours a week. So my capitalistic presence was as ghostly as your internet presence.

My whole life I have consciously resisted letting money drive my life. I have paid the price, but this cuts both ways. I am not financially independent, but I am largely independent of finances.

I love this. When you return, my ectoplasmic friend, you return with intensity. I took the icons off for the same reason that I don't do so many things out there. This is much faster for me, much less wait time without the icons. Sorry. If you should choose to fade away, I will understand.
