The Tender Spots

"Of all the pitfalls in our paths and the tremendous delays and wanderings off the track I want to say that they are not what they seem to be. I want to say that all that seems like fantastic mistakes are not mistakes, all that seems like error is not error; and it all has to be done. That which seems like a false step is the next step."
- Agnes Martin

What a statement of faith. I agree. I am dark right now, on a treacherous path, in too much pain to do much and without a clue how to get out of it. I am still on track. I choose to believe so.

Love, compassion, forgiveness. Prayers for healing.

The Tender Spots

The tender spot's found
in between
the dark and day
or day's end and night,

or in between me
and
you dancing in twilight
lit by rosy flame.

You said eternal
life
is found in us. I said
Yes, within our hearts,

In the tender spots.

  2. In AA's Big Book, people with addictive personalities (alcoholics) are called people driven by their condition. "Driven by a hundred forms of fear, self delusion, self seeking..."

Of course, Buddhists might claim that description is an accurate description of the human condition, and not one limited to alcoholics and addicts of all kinds.

Driven behavior, by the way, is not tender behavior and will drive tenderness out of my life. Of that I am certain.

  3. Every false step is the next step. So simple when put that way. Steps are hard yeah...when it hurts to move. Hate your pain here, and my prayers for your healing continue.

  4. Hating pain is a waste of energy but then all false steps are next steps.

Thank you for your care and prayers. It seems like chanting healing chants is all I have as well. Sometimes I get vocal in my pain and in those moments am really glad I live alone. Yesterday was one of the bad days. Today is much better.

    I really don't know why.

  6. I have a couple times, Michelle. That's the good news. The bad news, it was gallows humor. :)

  8. The tender spots are a blessing when the world is a welcoming place. Tenderness is an affliction in harsher conditions. The call to tenderness cannot be heard in harsh worlds.

  10. Hi, Rachel. I think you might have a tribal nature in you, and if so you know how dancing really is what it is. I would dance with you, or maybe we already dance in the poetry. I think so.

The chicken crossed the road. That's poultry in motion.
