The Kiss Of The Fin-footed Mammal - 3WW

Thom writes:
Each week, I post three words. You write something using the words.

Then come back and post a link to the contribution with Mr. Linky (but please, link to the exact post, not your blog, by clicking on the exact post title and paste it to Mr. Linky below). As always, there's no hard-and-fast rule that you have to post on Wednesday.

This week's words:

Clever; Finish; Silky.

The Kiss Of The Fin-footed Mammal

There's a fishy smell
and the slurp of the waves kiss
my ears - have you felt
the wash of seal's tongue?
A clever moment, that's sure.
The joy of the chase -
Remember sinking
to the finish of all things
and then with a flick
darting off after
schools of silky silver prey?

  2. Seals and sea lions are such fascinating creatures. Some places I guess they are a nuisance, but fascinating non-the-less.

  3. Eloquent ode to a seal - reads really well.

  4. I often wonder what they think we they see us. They probably think we are a poor example of a mammal that is so limited in the sea!

  5. She's a selky!

I'm sorry I've neglected you somewhat of late; the e-mail feed I had you on closed down and I didn't get round to finding an alternative, but I'll get you on my sidebar one.

Can a point you gently towards Tom's blog?

Generally I try to keep hands off a bit, as I think he needs to find his own way and form his own blogging relationships, but there's stuff he posts about and refers to (eg 12 step matters) that I kind of think you might be understanding of or interested in, if you've the time.

As ever, I enjoy and appreciate, and often love, your writing.

  7. Christopher: It's the eyes that do it for, and to, me. I'm a sucker for animals' eyes. (I'm certain Lucy told me which blog was yours, but I still made the connection between you and "View From The Northern Wall" by accident. Will try to do better!)

The chicken crossed the road. That's poultry in motion.
