I Don't Need An Answer

Imagine. I wake up in the middle of the night on a camping trip and my lover is gone. I know better than to go looking but I do become conscious in my waiting for her to return. It is not the few minutes of a potty run, longer than that by far, and then she returns quietly, as if to not disturb my sleep. She is naked. I know she has gone to worship beneath the full moon, like David before the temple. She slips in and bathes my back with the cool of the night air on her body.

This did not actually happen, but I know at least two women who might have given me this experience had I been their lover and had we gone camping.

I Don't Need An Answer

Gone too long for pee,
also the cool of you soothes
my back as you spoon
me. I know you go
to the moon, gain energy
from light on this full
moon night, don't need to
ask too much from you to know
you dance dance dance, love.

  1. For a moment there, I was jealous. Not particularly of someone, but that this unique experience was already robbed of me.

    Selfish, yeh! :D

  2. I love your "ifs" in the explanation. So much might have happened "if"...

  3. Vinisha, the imagination is delightful, allowing real feelings to rise up as a reply to fantasy. I am happy to make you jealous. Heh.

Karen, yes, a highly "iffy" situation indeed. I very much like that I have known women who could have behaved like that.

  4. Ya Ya Sisters! Well, you're not a sister, but this gaining energy from the moon...recharge...has much truth to it, even if a dream. Nudity fundamentally required, as when sucking vitamin D from the sun. Yes, this I know.

  5. Every self respecting warlock is required to know what the sisterhood is doing :)

  6. you're very corporeal to be so spiritual.

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
    She tied you
    To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

    Leonard Cohen
    Hallelujah

  7. Ghost!

Very nice to follow on with Leonard Cohen.

It took agrarian mass production to back up civilization before humankind found enough leisure to contemplate the possibility that spirituality was perhaps separate from the carnal natures of people. Some people think that this division is a dangerous attempt that leads to a whole host of pitfalls. In my opinion there is a path in the divide but a difficult one. But then there is no spiritual walk that avoids some form of danger.

    What I Found

    I scaled the trellis,
    climbing the big vines planted
    five years past the moon.
    Looking for your camp
    beneath the solemn sun's ghost,
    or the memory
    in the lost locket
of God once found in the crack
    between all the worlds,
    what I found instead
    was your secret witchy name,
    the glint in your eye.

  8. Are you serious Ghost Dansing? Broke your throne? HOly holy shit. I always thought it was broke your throat. I'm afraid I'll hold to my misheard image anyway. Broke your throat...such trust. But I understand throne now, in the context of the song.

I was so happy for you believing this to be real. And I wished for myself to be awake and alive enough to do this. I have had moments, but not nearly enough of them. And damn those sleeping pills! Ha!
