With Friends Like Me - 3WW

Thom writes:
Each week, I post three words. You write something using the words.

Then come back and post a link to the contribution with Mr. Linky (but please, link to the exact post, not your blog, by clicking on the exact post title and paste it to Mr. Linky below). As always, there's no hard-and-fast rule that you have to post on Wednesday.

This week's words:

Cumbersome; Morbid; Rampage.

With Friends Like Me

Cumbersome friendship,
awkward, even morbid, like
a mole that started
to grow and change on
your already large schnozzle -
I went on rampage,
broke all the china
and left you here to defend
my early exit.

Monkey mob goes on the rampage in surprise attack in Indonesia
Seven people have been injured, one critically, after a mob of wild monkeys went on a rampage in a village in eastern Indonesia, entering houses and attacking panicking residents."

  1. I love how you took that story and made this poem.

  2. I was going to comment on the cool way that you made news into art, but then read your comment, and got a few goosebumps. I do like the poem in and of itself, the coincidence is just the scoop of ice cream on the side.

    1. Well, it did take my twisted mind to realize I qualify as a mob of monkeys. That also got me to change the poem from me talking about you to me talking of you dealing with me. "You" were the problem until the monkey mob. Then the poem transformed, was me, why there is that false hit on Mr. Linky. The part where it came up, I googled images for "rampage". That was a dead square hit on the story, a major keyword google search. I got the monkey among other photos. The photo linked to the Telegraph's story.

    2. I think this is a perfect illustration of nothing happening in complete isolation on the planet. The monkeys in the forest near a small village in Indonesia had the same idea I did and did their own version of art, performance art in their case. Some hours later, I write a poem about them, sort of.

  3. By the way, if you all didn't get it... That photo in my opinion is almost certainly a file photo attached to the story pretty much the same way it is attached to my poem. I am not at all certain it is actually a photo of the type of monkey that went on rampage in Indonesia. At least it is not captioned and explained in the story which is fairly suspicious had it been taken on scene by a staffer of some kind.

    1. A little further research, has the monkey identified in the photo wrong. The image is probably not a pigtail macaque. The story was seemingly written as current but was not current yesterday. The story was first written on 31 January. It is possible the actual rampaging monkeys were pigtails but descriptions of the range and the identity of the village as being somewhat near Padang in South Sulawesi suggest the rampaging monkeys were another species.

This is now fairly murky. Brit sensational press. Everything is a bit smeared out now. heh. Don't believe what you read on the internet. This is just a story, hey?

The chicken crossed the road. That's poultry in motion.
