A Navaho Rain Dance
Pray For Rain
It's time. Hold the light.
Let it shine around corners
and into crannies.
Let's watch cockroaches
scurry for the smaller cracks
in the far ledges
of our growing hope
as we pray for coming rain
within this long drought.

A rain dance is a prayer in motion, a prayer embodied, an invitation for the sacred to manifest in the downflow of water. A rain dance is a promise to continue the sacred connection of God and man, of God and tribe and to carry forward the wisdom of the ancestors and to pass it to the children.

The chicken crossed the road. That's poultry in motion.
