The Question
"What would be up there,"
She whispered to me as if
I could have a view
from here and the stones
to peer past the bannister
in any damn case.
The sounds of the war
were just as loud in this place
as anywhere else
though the fusillades
did not yet penetrate
the walls of the keep.
